What is criminal law?
A
cases in which people have committed an offence against the wellbeing of the community

Criminal offences include
A
The state- Treason, sabotage
A person- Assult, murder
Property- Theft or damage
Public order- Traffic offence and abusive language

Two types of classified criminal offenses
A
- Summary offense
- Indicable offense

What is a summary offense?
A
A less serious offence including jaywalking, Speeding etc

What is an Indicable offense
A
A more serious crime including murder, homiside
These are heard before the jury or judge

Proven guilty by the prosecutor

There will be a sanction that could be jail, a fine or community work
