Industry type?
1) Newbuilding - Purpose: for the creation of new ships. Industry type: fabrication and assembly industry
2) Repair - Purpose: for the maintenance, repair and conversion of existing ships. Industry type: service industry
3) Offshore - Purpose: for the creation of new equipment primarily aimed at the offshore energy sector. Industry type: fabrication and assembly industry
4) Recycling - Purpose: for the dismantling and disposal of marine structures that have reached the end of their life. Industry type: scrap yard (part service part raw material manufacturer)
three sectors of the yacht industry?
1) Production: Standard off-the-shelf products, Mass produced, The buyer has very limited choice of spec., Almost invariably GRP, occasionally wood, Typically up to about 20
2) Semi-Custom: Larger production yachts up to about 30m, The buyer has some input to layout and fittings, Almost invariably GRP, Semi-mass produced
3) Custom: One-off bespoke vessels, The buyer as total say on design and fittings, Superyachts over about 30/35m, Mega yachts over about 50m, Predominantly aluminium
