NOT IN BALTIC SEA UNLESS USING TREATMENT FACILITIY. STP 0 - 3 NM Approved STP, test results in cert, no discolouration 3-12 - en route not less than 4kts, no discolouration rate monitor, use sewage treatment plant. Use communator, disinfectant or STP (use one) >12 - Untreated okay, en route 4 kts, no discolouration or solids.

Designated garbage officer, Garbage minimisation, collection & segrigation and storage, discharging, equipment on board. CERS garbage declaration

What is in garbage record book and how long to keep on board.

2 years. Date and time of garbage record to shore side, sea, inciniration and seperate catagories, accidental discharge.

VLs of 12m or more notifiying of ship discharging critera.

Can you discharge an animal carcass?

Yes provided it will sink immediately and en route, more than 100nm and maximum depth of water. OUTSIDE SPECIAL AREA.

Food waste requirements in and out of special area?

OUTSIDE GROUNDED >3NM and en route. INSIDE GROUNDED >12NM OUTSIDE UNGROUNDED >12NM INSIDE UNGROUNDED NO DISCHARGE!!!

Cert for Annex 6?

IAPP (Initial, annual, I/A, I/A, annual and renewal) & International energy efficency certificate (initial and lifetime) - class to do these? 400gt and above.

As Master how will you change over to 0.1% sulpher?

Shipbaord risk assessment, call for a meeting, general procedures as given in change over procedure book (class provide / engine manufacturer). How hours notice required - give notice and give log entries. On entry: - SECA being entered - Date of changeover - Time of changover - Position of entry - Volume of low sulpher fuel at the moment of entry.

Can scrubbers be operating in special area ANNEX 6?

Only closed loop (water is filtered), open loop requires discharge of water so not aloud).

What ships does the ballast water convention apply to?

UK vessels regardless of tonnage, wherever you may be.

When will you need an International Ballast Water Management Cert

If making an international voyage?

IBWMC

5yrs, Initial, Anual, Intermediate, anual, Rewnal.

Ballast Water Record Book.

Includes, times and positons, method used, ER, dilution or flow thru, Vol etc. Either D1 or D 2. Keep 3 years.

3 methods for D1 discharge ballast

Empty refill. Dilution Flow through. >200nm from land and 200m depth. But if unable to do 200nm then can be reduced to 50NM and 200m depth.
