why do mammals have a closed double circulatory system
A
closed: blood is enclosed within the blood vessels and is pumped around by the heart
double: blood passes through the heart twice in one and enables seperate circulation to lungs so can maintain higher pressure to rest of the body organs

where do arteries veins and capillaries transport blood to
A
arteries - take blood away from the heart to the rest of the body (blood is under high pressure)
veins - return back to the heart - blood is under low pressure
capillaries - connect arteries and veins , site of exchange
