16
Q

formula for a circle

A

(x-h) +(y-k) = r^2

17
Q

formula of parabola

A

y = ax^2 + bx + c

18
Q

vertex formula of a parabola

A

y = a(x-h)^2 + k

19
Q

open up/ down

A

y = a(x-h)^2 + k

((h, k) is the vertext ) (if a is positive it opens right, if it is negative it opens left)

20
Q

formula for compound interest

A

a = P(1+r)^t

(a is final amount) (r is the interset rate in decimal form) (t is the number of times the interest is compounded)

21
Q

imaginary number

A

i^2 = -1 (i = √-1)

22
Q

quadratic/linear # of solutions (intersections

A
  1. make y isolated
  2. set equations to equal each other
  3. get the term to equal 0
  4. use appropiate discriminent
  5. solve for constant

b 2 -4(a)(c)>0, two real solutions
b 2 -4(a)(c)=0, one real solutions
b 2 -4(a)(c)<0, zero real solutions (2 imaginary solutions)

23
Q

ALMOST CIRCLE FORMULA/RADIUS

A
  1. Make sure all letters on left, all #’s on right
  2. Take ½ the coefficient of the “x” and square it
  3. Add #2 to the right side
  4. Do same thing with the “y” coefficient
  5. Add #4 to right side
  6. Add up all #’s right side
  7. Take square root of #6 and that’s the radius
