This deck covers topics in the "Ms Courtney Math Notebook". This deck should be used for studying topics. The topics are: Area Formulas Area Parallelograms Polygons Polyhedra Nets Squared Vs Cubed Ratios Unit Price + Rates Proportions Percent proportions Alegebra terms Critical Thinking Isolate the variable (Equations) Exponents GCF & LCM problems Independent vs Dependent variables Rational Numbers Types of Data Statistics Center & Spread Histograms IQR, Quartile, Median Measures of Center (56 cards)
What is the formula for area?
Area = Length x Width (A = L x W).
What is area?
The number of square units that cover a 2D region without any gaps or overlaps.
What is a parallelogram?
A type of quadrilateral that has two pairs of parallel sides.
What is an edge?
A straight side of a polygon.
What is a polyhedron?
A closed, three-dimensional shape with flat sides. When we have more than one polyhedron, we call them polyhedra.
What is a base (of a prism or pyramid)?
A face of a polyhedron.
What does “cubed” mean?
To the third power.
What is a ratio?
An association between two or more quantities.
What is the definition of
“unit price”?
The cost for one item.
What is a coefficient?
A number that is multiplied by a variable.
What is critical thinking?
The process of analyzing information to make informed decisions.
What is an exponent?
A number that tells you how many factors to multiply.
What is a dependent variable?
A result of a calculation.
What is a rational number?
A fraction or the opposite of a fraction.
What is categorical data?
A set of data that are words instead of numbers.
What is a statistical question?
A question that can be answered using data that has variability.
What is a histogram?
A way to represent data on a number line (grouped by ranges).
What is a median?
A number in a data set that is the center of the data set (middle number).
When do you use Mean/MAD?
- When the data distribution is symmetrical.
- No outliers.
What is the formula for the area of a triangle?
A = 1/2 x b x h (1/2 x base x height)
What is a region?
The space inside the shape.
What is a base (of a parallelogram or triangle)?
Any side of the parallelogram or triangle.
What is a polygon?
A closed, two-dimensional shape with straight sides and do not cross each other.
What is a prism?
A polyhedron that has two bases that are identical copies of each other. the bases are connected by rectangles or parallelograms.
