Math vocab 11 Flashcards
(24 cards)
A graphical display that compares categories of data using bars of different heights.
Bar graph
A graphical representation of the five number summary of data set.
Box plot
Data that can be organized into different categories.
Categorical data
The ratio of the joint frequency to the marginal frequency.
Conditional relative frequency
A graph or table that shows the theoretical frequency of each possible data value.
Distribution
A diagram that shows the frequency of data on a number line.
Dot plot
The least and greatest values in a set of data.
Extreme values
The minimum, quartiles, and maximum of a data set.
Five - number summary
A graphical display that uses bars to display numerical data that have been organized in equal intervals.
Histograms
Entries in the body of a two-way frequency table.
Joint frequencies
The ratio of a joint frequency to the total number of observations.
Joint relative frequency
One or more operations preformed on a set of data the can be written as a linear function.
Linear transformation
The total of each subcategory in a two-way frequency table.
Marginal frequencies
A distribution that typically has a median greater than the mean and less data on the left side of the graph.
Negatively skewed distribution
Data that have units and can be measured.
Numerical data
A value that is no more than 1.5 times the interquartile range above the third quartile or below the first quartile.
Outlier
A distribution that typically has a mean greater than the median.
Positively skewed distribution
The ratio of the number of observations in a category to the total number of observations.
Relative frequency
A measure that shows how data deviate from the mean.
Standard deviation
A distribution in which the mean and median are approximately equal.
Symmetric distribution
A table is used to show frequencies of data classified according to two categories, with the rows indicating one category and the columns.
Two-way frequency table
A table used to show frequencies of data based on a percentage of the total number of observations.
Two-way relative frequency table
Measurement data in one variable.
Univariate data
The square of the standard deviation.
Variance
