McMurry (Kap. 6,11) - comparison between biological and LAB reaction Flashcards
(1 cards)
Hvad er forskelle mellem reaktioner der udføres i LAB og reaktioner i biologiske organismer?
1) Solvents (A solvent is a substance that dissolves another substance/reactants) in LAB are organic liquids, whereas in cells they are aqueous environments in cells.
2) Temperatures in LAB can vary, whereas in biological reactions, it is the temperature of the living organism.
3) Catalysts are not used in LAB or vert simple, but in biological reactions, they are needed in the form of large complex enzymes.
4) Reagent sizes are small and simple in LAB, whereas in biological reactions complex coenzymes are used (A reagent is any chemical used to cause a reaction)
5) little specificity in LAB but very high specificity in biological reactions - by the help pf enzyme for instance.
