Q

How can you make a see saw that is at equilibrium rotate around the pivot?

A

Option 1: ( decrease the moments on one side by decreasing force)
- moment = f x perp distance from the line of action to the pivot point.
- by making the force smaller but keeping the distance constant you can decrease the moment on one side of the seesaw causing it to rotate.

Option 2:(decrease the perpendicular distance one side of the seesaw)
-decreasing the perpendicular distance but making the force constant will decrease the moment on the side of the seesaw.

In addition to this, as the distance from the turning point (pivot) decreases , the more force is required to keep that same seesaw in equilibrium.
