Conscious sedation meds/doses for endoscopy

A

2mg midazolam(versed), 50 ug fentanyl
give up to 4 times as needed

ensure patient is on NC, connected to monitor with continuous pulse ox and ecg monitoring

blood pressure cuff cycling every 10 minutes

monitor overall mental status and respiratory drive

RSI Drugs

A

Induction:
20mg etomidate (induction) (0.3 mg/kg)

Paralytic:
100mg succinylcholine (1.5 mg/kg)
OR
70mg rocuronium (0.6-1.2mg/kg)

Stress dose steroids

A

50 mg hydrocortisone IV q8hrs (sepsis/hypotension)

25 mg hydrocortisone IV @ start of case/on day of procedure + rapid taper: minor case
50 mg: moderate case
100 mg: major case

Bowel prep/abx prior to colorectal surgery

A

neomycin/flagyl (2g on day before surgery at 7pm for one and 11pm for other)

2L polyetheylene glycol vs
miralax prep (230 mg in 64 oz water over 2-4 hour period )
