Robert Koch was able to link particular germs to particular diseases. He used a stain to identify bacteria in 1882. And in 1883 he discovered those responsible for cholera

In 1910 Paul Ehrlich developed Salvarsan 606 aka ‘magic bullet’ (the first effective treatment for Syphilis)

William Harvey’s book ‘motion of the heart’ challenged Galen. He proved it was impossible to have too much blood which reduced blood letting.
