Q

Evidence for long term memory

A

Tulving found that episodic and emendation memories are bothering recalled form the prefrontal cortex
Divide into two sections - left - smentaic - right - episodic
Another study done shows Amnesia only affected episodic memory and not the other stores which prove tulvings view

A

This component produces sound base information
Phonological store - stores sounds

Q

Central executive

A

Most important comment in memory as it controls the phonological loop and visuospatial sketch pad
Decides what memory component the body show focus on

Q

Episodic buffer

A

Got updated in the 200s because there was no expiation for how long term memory may be brought into out working memory and how sound and visual could be integrated
Is a backup store integrates all information form working memories and long term memory
Not limited to one coding w

Q

Structure of multi store model of memory

A

Enviormental timuli - sensory register - attention -shor term memory = prolong
Ed rehearsal - long term memory and then can be retrieved

Q

Coding (encoding )

A

Transforming incoming information into a form that can be stored in memory eg visually, acoustically and semantically
Durtation and capacity as low effects coding and memory store

Q

What does multi store model suggest about memory stores

A

That their is multiple short term and long term memory stores for different information
And there are multiple ways to rehearsal information

Q

Mello and fisher cognitive interview

A

When cognitive and normal interview techniques were tested on both older adults and younger adults memory ci was better but more on older adults
They also recall more correct information even though there are additional no needed events more correct information is provided through ci then a normal interview

Q

Problems with cognitive interview

A

Different techniques of ci are used so it’s difficult to evaluate the effectiveness fully
Technique takes more time then normally available for police
To manyQuestions would be asked and they were out of sync

Q

What did Elizabeth lotus find

A

Revealed how memories can be changed by things that we are told after the event has taken place
Found that leading questions in interviews would affect the accuracy of recall

Q

Response bias

A

This suggest that the wording of the question has no real effect on the participants memories but it imfuelences how they decided to Andre
