Q

Immune evasion/ survival factors

A
  1. can have 14 different polysaccharide capsules which prevents formation of complement attack complex
  2. GNA1870 binds factor H which downregulates complement
  3. Type 4 pili bind c4 binding protein which cleaves the c3 convertase
  4. releases blebs of LPS which acts as a decoy
  5. porA also binds C4BP
  6. avoids immune system by expressing host structures: diff LPS that has identical structure to human blood group antigen
