Confronting the threat.

What is the brain's response to a threat?
Threatening situation -> amygdala tells your body to panic -> prefrontal cortex assesses and makes decisions based on the situation -> decides fight, flight or freeze.

What is the nervous system's response to a threat?
The amygdala tells the body to panic -> amygdala sends signals to the hypothalamus -> the hypothalamus stimulates the autonomic nervous system -> the autonomic nervous system activates the sympathetic nervous system which drives the fight or flight response or the parasympathetic which drives the freeze response.

What is dysregulation?
The inability to control or regulate one’s emotional responses. It can lead to mood swings and not being able to manage their emotions.

A concept that describes the optimal zone of 'arousal' for a person to function in everyday life.

Above the window of tolerance that’s a heightened state of activation/energy.
