Provides a course of correction in a nonthreatening manner, and eliminates undesired behavior
SMART
Well written goals typically have five characteristics that form this acronym
S for specific
Specific straightforward and clearly define. Begin with action words such as direct coordinate develop plan etc.
M for measurable
Ask how will I know when it is accomplished
A for attainment
It must be attainable. Goals that are lofty or too far out tend to reduce one’s commitment and motivation
R for realistic
You are willing and able to work for
T for time down
