pressure on mps
pressure on mps-to end the slave trade,only mps in parliament could take part in parliamentary debates.it was important to put pressure on mps to vote in favour of abolition.clarkson organized witnesses to talk at the house of common hearings.mps were bombarded my petitions,letters and pamphlets about abolition .

public meetings-hosted by local abolition committee,public meetings would attract national abolitionists like thomas clarkson.they were successful because they improved access to information and raised public awareness.

books-personal accounts of slavery were very good for the abolition case.these books gained a lot of publicity favour of abolition because they detailed the horrors that the slaves had to suffer through.
newspapaers
newspapers-with the increased awareness of the abolition cause,newspapers wrote articles about events across great britain and in the caribbean.newspapers would also report speeches in parliament .newspapers allowed the public to join in the debate and get involved in helping the abolition.

petitions-a petition is a document signed by a large number of people asking the government to take action eg end the slave trade.between 1787 and 1788 petition were sent to parliament with over 60,000 signatures.these petition sh0wed public strength
sugar boycott
sugar boycott-a boycott is when people deliberately refuse to do something until a business or government take action eg ending the slave trade.in 1791 an anti-sugar pamphlet was produced which sold 70,000 copies in 4 months.encouraged by what they read 400,000 british people boycotted slave grown sugar in 1792
