Indications

  • Severe anaphylaxis
  • Asthma
  • COPD

Contraindications

A
  • Cushing’s syndrome
  • Fungal infections
  • Measles
  • Varicella
  • Known sensitivity, including sulfites
  • No others in emergency setting

Adverse Effects

A
  • Depression, euphoria
  • Headache, restlessness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • HTN
  • Bradycardia
  • Swelling, fluid retention

Administration

A
  • Asthma, COPD, & Anaphylactic Shock
    • ​Adult: 125 mg IV/IO/IM
    • Peds: 1 mg/kg (up to 60 mg) IV/IO per day in two divided doses
