Q

What is bacteria?

A

Can be found everywhere, they are small living single celled organisms. Some bacteria can be helpful such as being used for medicine others can cause diseases such as typhoid, food poisoning and tuberculosis.

Bacteria can reproduce quickly and independently needing only 1 bacterium to divide into 2 bacterium every 20 minutes.

Q

What are viruses?

A

Viruses are alien like creatures with unique structures. They are much smaller than bacteria and can only reproduce when inside another living creature.

Viruses need to hijack a host cell like a human body cell to live and make more viruses, they can not function outside of a host cell so some consider them not to be alive.

Q

What is respiration in cells?

A

Cellular respiration is the process through which cells convert sugars into energy. To create ATP and other forms of energy to power cellular reactions, cells require fuel and an electron acceptor which drives the chemical process of turning energy into a useable form.
