What is a warrant?
A warrant is a written authority issued by a magistrate or a judge which directs the person(s) to whom it is addressed to do some particular act, which is set out in the warrant.
What is a summons?
A summons is a written order, signed by a Magistrate or clerk of the court, addressed to the accused person, directing them to appear at a time and place specified in the summons.
For the purposes of the offence of Theft, what are the three defences to dishonesty?
- Belief that the owner would have consented had they known the circumstances.
- Belief that the person had a right in a law to deprive the other of it.
- Belief that the owner could not have been found by taking reasonable steps.
What is a conveyance for the purposes of T.W.O.C.?
Constructed or adapted for the carriage of a person by land, water or air.
Does not include animals or pedal cycles.
What are the two defences to T.W.O.C.?
- Belief that they had lawful authority to do it.
- Belief that they would have had the owner’s consent if they knew of the circumstances.
What type of vehicle must be taken for the purposes of Aggravated Vehicle Taking?
A mechanically propelled vehicle (MPV)
What is a Mechanically Propelled Vehicle?
A vehicle that is powered by SEPDOG: Steam, Electricity, Petrol, Diesel, Oil, or Gas.

- Dangerous driving (on a road or other public place)
- RTC, injury to any person

- The aggravating circumstances occurred BEFORE they committed the basic offence of T.W.O.C.

What is the definition of a Motor Vehicle?
A mechanically propelled vehicle intended or adapted for use on roads.
What intention must a person have for the offence of Interfering with a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 9 Criminal Attempts Act 1981?
Intention that one of the following offences shall be committed by himself OR some other person:
- Theft of the MV or trailer or part of it.
- Theft of anything carried in or on the motor vehicle or trailer.
- Taking the vehicle without the owner’s consent (TWOC).
There is no need to prove which offence they intended.

Any indictable offence, except offences of assisting, aiding and abetting, and conspiracy.
