what is health equity
Health equity means that all people (individuals, groups and communities) have fair access to, and can act on, opportunities to reach their full health potential and are not disadvantaged by social, economic and environmental conditions, including socially constructed factors such as race, gender, sexuality, religion and social status.
difference between health inequity and health disparity
inequity= refers to differences in health associated with structural
and social disadvantage that are systemic, modifiable, avoidable and
unfair.
disparity= measurable differences due to structural and social determinates of health
difference between health educatiuon and health promotion
education: focouses on knowledge and developing skills, uses instructional methods (seminars), targets individuals and groups, relies on voulantry behavior
promotion: includes education but includes, environment, policies and social, takles a wholistic approach (policy advocacy enviro mods), targets individuals as well as communities.
education equips knowledge where as promotion creates an environment of change
