Midterm Op Group 3 Flashcards
(51 cards)
What is the origin of Tibialis Anterior?
Anterior proximal tibia, crural fascia (lateral tibial condyle, proximal 2/3 of anteriolateral surface of tibia and interosseous membrane)
What is the insertion of Tibialis Anterior?
Medial cuneiform and base of 1st metatarsal
What is the action of Tibialis Anterior?
Dorsiflexion and inversion of ankle
What is the innervation of Tibialis Anterior?
Deep peroneal (fibular) nerve
What is a notable characteristic of Tibialis Anterior?
It is the main dorsiflexor of the foot.
If there is a lesion to the deep peroneal nerve, it can result in foot drop.
What is the origin of Extensor Digitorum Longus?
Proximal 2/3 of fibula, interosseous membrane, lateral condyle of tibia
What is the insertion of Extensor Digitorum Longus?
Dorsal surface of digits 2-5 (via dorsal expansion to middle and distal phalanges)
What is the action of Extensor Digitorum Longus?
Extension of digits 2-5 (at MTP and IP joints), dorsiflexion and eversion of foot
What is the innervation of Extensor Digitorum Longus?
Deep peroneal (fibular) nerve
What is the origin of Extensor Hallucis Longus?
Anterior middle 1/3 of fibula and interosseous membrane
What is the insertion of Extensor Hallucis Longus?
Base of distal phalanx of big toe (dorsal surface)
What is the action of Extensor Hallucis Longus?
Extension of big toe (at MTP, IP joint), dorsiflexion and inversion of foot
What is the innervation of Extensor Hallucis Longus?
Deep peroneal (fibular) nerve
What is the origin of Fibularis (Peroneus) Tertius?
Distal 1/3 of anterior fibula
What is the insertion of Fibularis (Peroneus) Tertius?
Base of 5th metatarsal (dorsal)
What is the action of Fibularis (Peroneus) Tertius?
Dorsiflexion and eversion of foot
What is the innervation of Fibularis (Peroneus) Tertius?
Deep peroneal (fibular) nerve
What is the origin of Fibularis (Peroneus) Longus?
Head and proximal lateral shaft of fibula
What is the insertion of Fibularis (Peroneus) Longus?
Medial cuneiform and base of 1st metatarsal
What is the action of Fibularis (Peroneus) Longus?
Eversion and plantar flexion of foot
What is the innervation of Fibularis (Peroneus) Longus?
Superficial peroneal nerve
What is the origin of Gastrocnemius?
Medial head: above medial condyle of femur (posterior); Lateral head: above lateral condyle of femur (posterior)
What is the insertion of Gastrocnemius?
Calcaneus (via Achilles tendon)
What is the action of Gastrocnemius?
Plantar flexion of foot (knee flexion and inversion of foot)
