Referral: headache
A
- Unresponsive to analgesics in 1 day
- Take COC w migraine type headache
- Neck stiffness
- Under 12
- Severe headache >4H
- Recent trauma

Referral: sumatriptan
A
- 1st migraine in 50+
- > 4 attacks in month
- > 24H
- Migraine symptoms have changed
Avoid in liver/renal impairment, CVD + epilepsy

Treatment: analgesics + anti-emetics
A
Simple analgesics OR w codeine/dihydrocodeine
Anti-emetics:
- Prochlorperazine (buccastem M)
- Buclizine (migraleve pink)

Treatment: sumatriptan (imigran)
A
18-65
- Previously tried simple analgesics
- Established pattern: >5 attacks in 1 year
- Previously diagnosed
- One 50mg tablet ASAP after onset
- Don’t take second dose for same attack
- Second dose taken after 2 hrs if migrain reccurs, max 2 in 24H

A
- Daily use of analgesics cause chronic headache
- Codeine/dihydrocodeine causes addiction
