What is a migrant?
Any person moving/moved across an international border.

What is emigration?
Exiting/departing one state with intention to move to another.
What is immigration?
Non-nationals move into a country for settlement.
What is a refugee?
A person who has fled their country because their lives, security or freedom have been threatened.
What is an asylum seeker?
Someone who seeks safety from persecution/serious harm in a country other than their own, awaiting a decision of the application.
What is an IDP?
A person forced to flee their home, but who hasn’t crossed an international border.
What is an economic migrant?
A migrant whose primary motivation for moving is to make money.
What is net migration?
Overall change in a country’s population as a result of migration.
What is a country of origin?
The country that is the source of migratory flows.
What is remittance?
Monies earned or acquired by non-nationals that are transferred back to their country of origin.
