what was the aim of milgrams obedience study ?
To investigate how far people would obey an authority figure, even if actions caused harm to another person.
what was the procedure of Milgrams obedience study ?
Participants were told they were randomly assigned either ‘teacher’ or ‘learner’ however learner was always a confederate/actor, teacher was delivering electric shocks to learner if they got questions wrong, the voltage increased every time question was wrong. Authority figure, man with lab coat who acted as an experimenter was present with ‘teacher’. Learners answers were pre-recorded and mainly gave wrong answers, confedertes would scream after getting shocked, theses were also pre-recorded.
what were the findigs of Milgrams shock study ?
pressure to obey to authority figiure is so great it can over-ride one’s own moral judgement. maximum voltage score participant obeyed to was their obedience score.
