Q

Results of Milgram study

A

65% went all way to 450V (XXX)
12.5% went only up to 300V( intense shock)
10% went to 315V( extreme intense shock)
5% went to 330V
2.5% times 3x to 345V, 375V, 375V ( danger )

Q

Q

Ethical issues of milgram study

A

The use of deception/The lack of protection for the participants involved/ Pressure from the experimenter to continue even after asking to stop, interfering with participants’ right to withdraw.

Q

Modification of milgram study

A

Screening by psychologist/ debrief right after study ends/ unpaid participation/ lower sample shock instead of milgrams 45V and no more than 100V in study

Q

Influence of variables

A

93% complied to 450V when they didn’t do it themselves but told someone else to /
0% when their is a disobedient model around/
48% when less prestigious setting/
30% (2x) when holding learners hand is needed and when telephone condition

Q

Conditions that decreased obedience

A

1)Promoxity of learner ( 40% still went to 450V)
2)Closeness of authority figure
3)Prestige of setting
4)Disobedient models around

Q

Replication of milgram

A

“The 150 volt solution”/ 2-step subject screening process
participants were told at least three times (twice in writing) that they
could withdraw from the study at any time and still receive their $50 for
participation/ lower voltage “sample shock” (15 volts vs. 45 volts in milgram study)/ Debrief occurred seconds after the study ended/ clinical psychologist present
