A naturally formed, inorganic solid that has a definite crystalline structure.
Element
A substance that cannot be separated or broken down.
Rock
A bunch of minerals put together to form into one.
Compound
A substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds.
Crystal
A solid where atoms, ions,or molecules are arranged in a different pattern.
Color
Usually 1st characteristic noticed about a mineral, but not always reliable.
Luster
The way in which a mineral reflects light.
Streak
The color of a powder of a mineral
Cleavage
The rock splitting along defines surfaces.
Fracture
The separation of a rock which can divide it into two.
Density
The density is the rocks weight average and the amount of minerals that make that factor.
Ore
a natural occurring solid material from which a metal or valuable mineral can be profitably extracted.
Metallic Mineral
minerals which contain one or more metallic elements.
Non Metallic Mineral
