What is moscovici eat als 1969 study
6 people were asked to view 36 blue coloured slides, and 2 confederates consistently said the colour was green
This lead to some of the participants also agreeing saying they were wrong
What is two strengths of minority influence
- Moscovici et als study, consistent minority opinion had greater effect than view that were inconsistent
- Martin et all 2003, research support for deeper processing, two groups presented a message as a minority or majority and measured participant agreement, the minority group had more agreement as it lead to deeper processing
What is a limitation of minority influence
Artificial tasks
Doesn’t reflect real minority situations like a jury in the court so it lacks external validity.
What type of conformity does minority lead to
Internalisation- their opinions have permanently changed publicaly and privately.
What is the difference between synchronic and diachronic consistency
Synchronised- all saying the same thing
Diachronic- same thing for a long duration
