Fuel may be balanced between main tanks 1 and 4 by:

A

• Opening crossfeed valves 1 and 4, closing crossfeed valves 2 and 3, turning off the fuel pumps in the low tank, and turning off the override pumps in main tanks 2 and 3.

Explain the effect on other airplane systems in the event of a bleed duct L overheat
condition?

A

• Isolate the Left Duct
• Turn off Pack 1 (LLCCAFR Switch OFF?)
• No wing anti-ice available
• Demand Pump ONE off
• LEF would extend on the left side in secondary mode.
• LEF retraction with the use of reverse thrust would cause roll action after
touchdown and reverse thrust as LEF on the right side retract in primary
mode, and left side remains extended.
• Body gear steering not available when engines are shutdown for a tow-in
situation.
• Nacelle anti-ice min N1 considerations.
• One pack maximum at cruise – make sure Pack 3 is ON.

  • Refer to DDG for proper switch configuration and procedures

If all four generators fail, what systems would remain, and what displays, lighting, communication, etc?

A

• Standby power systems available through the battery busses and
standby inverters.
• Left PFD, ND, and FMC avail.
• LEFT VHF Comm. avail.
• Interphone panel L and R for VHF L.
• Gear extension, trailing edge flap extension available
• No leading edge flap extension (LEF control is Main AC)
• Alternate trim switches avail
• Dome and panel lighting
• Upper EICAS with expanded flap display
• No anti-skid, no auto speed brakes, no autobrakes, no reverse thrust.
• ILS approach can be flown, using raw data

  • LNAV, VNAV, not available.
  • Autothrottles not available.
  • Autopilot OK
  • V/S, FLCH OK
  • EFIS Selector to VOR
  • Tune VOR station and course in alternate NAV/RAD page.
  • Heading Select along VOR course.
  • Fly approach using V/S, manual throttles, and autopilot on or off.
  • ND in VOR mode (centered if desired)/VOR switches up (ON)
  • Crew Coordination on altitude restrictions/constraints during approach.
