Mitosis Flashcards
What is mitosis?
The process by which cells reproduce.
What is interphase?
The stage in which the cell is not reproducing. It carries on normal life functions
What happens in late interphase or early prophase?
The DNA in centrioles duplicate essentials begin to move and form the mitotic spindle.
What happens in Middle prophase?
Microtubules from the spindle attach to the chromosomes.
What happens in late prophase?
The chromosomes move to the equatorial plane.
What happens in metaphase?
The chromosomes line up on the equatorial plane and the spindle begins pulling on them.
What happens in anaphase?
The duplicate chromosomes and the original split each going towards one cent real.
What happens in telophase?
The plasma membrane constricts in the chromosomes are surrounded by nuclear material.
What four things happen in prophase?
Centrioles duplicate and begin to form a spindle, they move towards opposite ends of the cell, replicated DNA forms chromosomes, and the chromosomes move to the center of the cell.
