Q

Give 6 processes of mitosis

A

1) Interphase – DNA replicates to create two pairs of homologous chromosomes with two chromatids
2) Prophase – Chromosomes condense and nuclear membrane breaks down
3) Prometaphase – Kinetochores appear and mitotic spindle microtubles attach to them
4) Metaphase – Chromosomes line up at the metaphase plate and a spindle forms attaching to centromeres
5) Anaphase – Chromatids are separated and pulled apart to opposite poles of the cell
6) Telophase & Cytokinesis – Chromosomes decondense, nuclei reform and the cell divides into two, forming two daughter cells with the same number of chromosomes as the parent nucleus
