Lower trapezius
How is the person for scapular depression
Lying prone, arms at edges of table.
Scapular depression 3+,4,5
grasp distal end of the humerus (don’t jump a joint)
- no palpating
- once you do 3, don’t need to palpate 3+,4,5
Scapular depression 0,1,2 where are the arms?

Scapular retraction: Muscle->
Middle trapezius or rhomboids

- Mrs. Jones you are going to pinch your shoulder blades together.
- Palpate the middle trapezius
- Stabilize opposite side

patient is in supine
- Show patient movement (reach arm up to sky)
- Palpate the serratus- thats the 3
- 3+,4,5 same position- but has to be up a little (Don’t need to palpate)
