Mobile Computing Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is Mobile Computing?
used to describe technologies that enable people to access services anytime, anyplace and anywhere.
What are the other names/overlapping computing paradigms? (9)
Pervasive Computing, Ubiquitous Computing, Wireless Computing, Embedded Computing, Nomadic Computing, Wireless Sensor Network, Ad-hoc Network, Mesh Network, Vehicular Network
Differentiate wired and Mobile Networks
Wired is high bandwidth, low bandwidth variability, can listen on wire, need physical access, high resource machine, low power machines, low delay, connected operations. Mobile Networks is low bandwidth, high bandwidth variability, need proximity, low power machines, low resource machines, high delay, disconnected operations.
Why go Mobile? (at least 3)
enable anytime/anywhere connectivity, enable mobility, enable new applications.
What are the 7 Evolutions, or the seven major categories of focus in mobile computing
?
portability, miniaturization, convergence, connectivity, divergence, digital ecosystem, application.
give at least 5 trends in mobile computing.
Shopping, Wearables, Smartwatches, Student, App
