Mod 4 Flashcards
(9 cards)
Electric charge
Electric charge is a physical property that all bodies possess , there are two different types of charge
Coulomb
One Coulomb (1c) of charge is defined as the amount of charge that passes a point in one second when the current is one amp
Elementary charge
1.6 x 10^-19
Electric current
Electric current is the rate of flow of charge
Voltage / potential difference
Voltage is a measure of the electrical energy transferred per unit of charge.
Volt
The energy transferred per coulomb
What should be the ideal resistance of a voltmeter in a circuit
The resistance should be as high as possible as it should prevent current from passing through the voltmeter thus not affecting the voltage measures
Electromotive force
The term used to describe when i done on the charge carriers
Electrolytes
Liquids that can carry an electric current are called electrolytes
