Module 2 Flashcards
What is the principle of any ‘block’ system signalling, with the exception of permissive working
One train in one block at any one time.
What types of route indication are found in areas controlled by colour light signals?
Junction indicators & route indicators
Whattype of route indications are found in areas controlled by semaphore signals?
Stepping, stacking,route indicators.
What is the purpose of AWS
To provide an audible and visual Indication to the driver on approach to signals, temp and emergency speed restrictions and warning boards
What is the purpose of TPWS?
To mitigate against the effects of SPADsand overspeeding.
What visual indication will you get on the TPWS control panel if the TPWS initiates a brake application?
Brake demand light flashing RED
After TPWS intervention has occurred, whataction would a driver take to stop the TPWS brake demand light flashing?
Press the TPWS reset button. And observe the brake demand lightturn steady for 60 secs. It will then extinguish.
Why is it essential to temp isolate the TPWS when Assisting from the rear?
The front inactive cab will cause the signal to change to danger, so when the rear active cab passes the signal it would trigger the TPWS causing the brakes to come on.
What must be completed when reporting a signal irregularity or signal failure.
