Q

Test for halide ion

A

Add nitric acid then silver nitrate
Cl forms white ppt as silver chloride forms
Br forms cream ppt as silver bromide forms
I forms yellow ppt as silver iodide forms

17
Q

Test for carbonate ions + result

A

Add hydrochloric acid will causes solution to fizzes because carbonate ion react with hydrogen ion = form CO2. CO2 test with lime water, will turn cloudy
