Latifundia; essay
The farmers who worked on there farms were forced to fight in Roman battles for the army. This created problems because nobody was there to grow and manage the farms. Since there were no farmers there they could not pay back their land fees to the government. The landowners couldn't compete with the latifundia because the workers didn’t get paid. The workers were slaves forced to work at these large farming estates. This caused big issues because these people that where barley making the economy survive were not getting paid. Many people started to believe that the problem was the wealthy land owners.

Bread and Circus
Roman leaders began to introduce free food and entertainment. This became known as bread and circuses. They did this because the people of Rome started to complain and threaten to revolt against the country. So Julius Cesar gives them a day of of work to watch and enjoy gladiator battles. This made the people not try and fight back because the patricians said that if they tried to rebel the bread and circus would be taken away.
