The product or quotient of two numbers that are both positive or negative will give a ______ number
positive
The product or quotient of two numbers that are both opposite in positive or negative will give a ______ number
negative
In a cartesian plane, the _____ axis is placed first
X
In a cartesian plane, what are the coordinates started and ended by
Brackets
In a cartesian plane coordinate, what symbol is used to show the separation between the x and y axis
the comma , (e.g (-3,2)
how do you find the percentage of a number
Multiply the percentage as a decimal (e.g 40% of 650 = 0.4x650)
what is a sample space
The set of all possible outcomes of an experiment.
what is a compound event
a collection of two or more outcomes from the sample space of a chance experiment
mutually exclusive events
Two or more events that share no outcomes
non-mutually exclusive events
two or more events that share one or more outcomes
complementary events
if all the outcomes in the sample space are divided into two events, they are complementary events.
complement is if
an experiment was performed and an event did not occur, then the complement definitely occurred (e.g rolling 1, 2, 5, 6 is an event. Rolling 1 or 6 is a complement)
theoretical probability
The actual chance that an event will occur when an experiment takes place. p= number of favourable outcomes/ total number of outcomes
experimental probability
The experimental probability of an event occurring is the number of times that it occurred when the experiment was conducted as a fraction of the total number of times the experiment was conducted. e.g if the dice was rolled 600 times and the 5 was rolled 53 times the experimental probability would be 53/600
more than or greater than means
the numbers greater than that particular number and NOT INCLUDING THE PARTICULAR NUMBER
Less than
The numbers less than the particular number and NOT INCLUDING THE PARTICULAR NUMBER
At most or At least
all the numbers before or after the particular number and INCLUDING THE PARTICULAR NUMBER
two step experiments can be recorded with
a two-way table
