Motion Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is motion?
A change in position of an object with respect to time.
What is speed?
Distance travelled per unit time. It is a scalar quantity.
What is velocity?
Displacement per unit time. It is a vector quantity.
What is acceleration?
The rate of change of velocity.
What does uniform motion mean?
Motion at constant speed in a straight line.
What does non-uniform motion mean?
Motion with changing speed and/or direction.
What is the difference between distance and displacement?
Distance is the total path length (scalar); displacement is the shortest path from start to end (vector).
Can an object have constant speed but changing velocity?
Yes, if it is changing direction (e.g., moving in a circle)
