helps performer set new goals, lead to long lasting results and tends to help performers sustain interest and continue participation
extrinsic motivation uses
good for first time performers at the cognitive stage of learning and provides clear evidence of success through tangible rewards
extrinsic motivation effects
helps the recipient gain status in peer groups however its benefits tend to be short-lived and lose impact if the opportunity for a reward is taken away
