Taylor Motivation Theory
It focuses on breaking down complex tasks into simpler ones, standardising work processes, and providing workers with clear instructions and training to achieve maximum efficiency
Maslow Hierarchy of Needs
Physiological, Safety, Belonging and love, esteem, self actualization
Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory
Suggests that there are two types of factors that affect employee motivation and job satisfaction - hygiene factors and motivators
McClelland Acquired Needs Theory
Achievement (drive to succeed),
Affiliation (need for relationships), and
Power (desire to influence others).
Deci & Ryan Self-Determination Theory
Motivation is strongest when people experience:
Autonomy (freedom),
Competence (feeling skilled),
Relatedness (connection to others).
Adams Equity Theory
People compare their input/output ratio to others’—if it feels unfair, motivation drops.
Expectancy Theory
Motivation = Effort → Performance → Reward.
