Motor Learning & Coaching Flashcards
(6 cards)
Purpose of feedback?
Feedback is designed to provide information and reinforcement as well as motivation
Intrinsic feedback
Sensory information that is a natural part of performing the skill
E.g seeing a gold ball go in cup
Extrinsic feedback
Information additional to intrinsic
Eg coach directing player to raise club higher in backswing
Difference between terminal and concurrent feedback and why is the timing of feedback important?
Terminal is feedback provided after the performance while concurrent feedback is provided during the performance. Timing is important as it has a significant impact on improving motor learning and performance.
What type of feedback is more effective for a cognitive learner?
Extrinsic, immediate, terminal, verbal feedback is best for a cognitive learner. They require verbal instruction as soon as they make mistakes in skill performance.
Delay and non verbal may negatively impact learning as cognitive learners are unable to accurately evaluate their own learning.
List factors which affect approach to coaching, describe and apply how factors would affect your approach to an u13 cricket team, examples

Injury
-need to be aware of possible injuries to players or in going injuries that need to be managed. Prevent further.
