Gerald tries to justify his actions - attraction to Eva partly based on her vunerability, upper class men exploited working class women

He misses the point of the inspector’s visit entirly, suggests that since the inspector may be a hoax they can just go back to how things were, sheila’s refusal shows how much she has changed and he ahsn’t
