• anything made of matter has parts.
• whatever has parts depends on them for its existence.
• if God were made of matter, God would change and depend on his parts.
• being perfect, God cannot change and God doesn’t depend on anything for his existence.
• Therefore, God cannot be made of matter.

• good as he would be the most perfect possible being.

* however God can’t have a body or he can’t be perfect.

What philosopher talked about what God could do? What did they say?

•Aquinas- God can do all things that are appropriate for God to do e.g God cannot walk. But God doesn’t have to walk, because walking does not constitute part of his greatness. In reality walking is a lack of perfection but it does not matter that God cannot walk because of his incorporeal state.
