when you position the mouse pointer over the button the name of the button is displayed in a small window called screen tip.

save vs save as
A
save means to store it in a file or document. save as shows the current path where the file is stored is displayed at the top of the dialog box.

exit vs close
A
close means to close something out while still being on the document or file compared to when you exit meaning you completely closed out the program and its no longer there.
