Identify and explain 5 step process associated with ORM
Identify hazards Assess hazards Make risk decisions Implement controls Supervise
Define a high risk course
All basic or advanced, individual, or color give training in a traditional or non-traditional environment which exposed the crew, staff, students, and/or assets to the potential risks of death, permanent disability, or loss during training.
WITH RESPECT TO ORM, WHAT IS A DRA?
Deliberate risk assessment or DD form 2977
Purpose of an emergency Action Plan?
EAP is an internal plan to be implemented immediately upon advent of a mishap to aid involved persons and to control and/or safeguard the scene. This plan will be developed for all high-risk training.
How often EAP walked through and fully exercised?
An EAP walked through quarterly and fully exercised annually
What is a safety review or safety stay down? And what is the periodicity?
Comprehensive review of high risk training conducted by training, safety, and medical personnel to ensure courses are being taught with minimum risk to students and instructors. Shall be conducted at least annually of all formal-high risk training courses
WHAT IS THE TSO AND WHO IS TSO ?
What are primary responsibilities?
Training safety officer Dave Bailey.
TSOs are concerned with every aspect of providing safe training, evolution, and monitoring, and in performing safety reviews, investigations, and proper mishap reporting.
WHAT SAFETY POLICIES SHALL BE BRIEFED TO STUDENTS PRIOR TO ALL HIGH-RISK evolutions
TTO, DOR, and EAP policies
What is the commands alcohol policy for consuming alcohol prior to training?
No consumptions 12 hours prior.
Are the safety requirements associated with high risk training only required for CIN delivered training?
No, all high risk training conducted by the command will meet the risk assessment requirements.
In a CIN Division, what are the safety related responsibilities of a COURSE SUP
Ensure development, use and maintenance of the EAPs,
Conduct an annual training safety self-assessment of all their high/risk courses
Serve as high risk training safety officer for their COI. Ensure all requirements are adhered to and inform the TSO of anything unsafe
What are three distance elements of the Navy Training Sustem?
Preparation to train
Delivery of training
Evaluation of training
Greatest responsibility that an instructor has in conducting training?
Great responsibility is to ensure safety
Describe an instructors responsibility to curriculum
Maintain curriculum they are presenting to students
The instructor should know the difference between changes and revisions and how they affect the course of instruction (change is minor, own and ink, revision requires TPP, CCA approval)
The instructor should know what the surveillance process is and why it is important to the course
What NAVEDTRA would reference and describe the key principles of applying motivation theory in a training situation?
NAVEDTRA 134 (Chapter 3 pages 23 and 24
In reference to the six ways of learning, define the law of primacy
Law of Primacy states that the first instructional even often creates a string, almost unshakable, impression on the learner
5 ways of learning, define transfer
The process of applying past learning to new but somewhat similar situations. This is an important process in the navy technical training because the training environment can rarely duplicate the actual job environment. If possible, use of the actual equipment the student will use in the fleet should be used for training.
To achieve 90% student retention rate of the material presented in a training course, the navy recommends applying which of the identified four student learning styles?
Abstract, reflective, concrete, and Active=90% retained.
Discuss barriers to effective communication
Lack of Common core experience: unlikely to find group of students with same common core experience
Overuse of abstractions: concepts ideas or words not directly related to the subject being discussed. Speak concrete/specific
Fear: one of the greatest barriers to effective communication. The fear of showing ignorance, disapproval, losing status, judgment
Environmental: noise, temperature,
STATE AND DISCUSS THEEE PARTS OF A LEARJING OBJECTIVE
Behavior: what the student will be able to do as a result of a learning experience. Consists of subject/object/verb
Condition: the siding and limiting factors imposed upon the student in satisfying the permanent requirements of the objective. From memory of not specified in terminal learning object TLO
Standard: the degree of proficiency will be required to perform the behavior 100% if not stated in the TLO
List and describe the three primary materials use in presenting instruction
Lesson plan: (front matter, lesson topics) ensures proper sequence and depth required by objectives
Information sheets: (outline, job, problem, assignment, information, diagram) provide students with information or directions. OJPAID
Instructional media material/visual media material: IMM is a specially prepared transparency, illustration, video tape,l/dvd, computer based, flash animation, move, slide or exhibit that will assist students in learning.
DIscuss diversity as a formal navy program and how you would properly apply its concepts in your possible actions and responsibilities as an instructor
Diversity encompasses not only race, religion, age, gender, and national origin but also all the different characteristics and attributes of individuals that enhance mission readiness and strengthen capabilities.
What level of the navy training organization has the authority to disqualify instructors and process these military members for formal NEC removal and command reassignment?
Cognizant learning Centers (LC) have the authority to establish what constitutes disqualification. EODTEU2/1
What NAVEDTRA publication would list the training org responsibilities, from the highest part of the org at the CNO (opnav-level) to the lowest part of the participating activity ? PA-Level
NAVEDTRA 135. School house management manual
