events of the putsch, 8 nov 1923

A

hitler and 800 SA troops entered meeting with bavarian gov in munich
- hitler forced gov to support him by threatening them

rohm (head of SA) took control of local police and army headquarters
- but ludendorff (general who got kaiser to abdicate in ww1) let the gov leaders go

A

-9 nov hitler marched on munich with 1000 SA and 2000 volunteers - he wanted to make himself president
-state police met SA - 3 policemen and 16 nazi died
-ludendorff and rohm arrested - hitler fled

-nazis angry over the french occupation of the ruhr in 1923
- when streseman called off resistance against it
