Muscles of the Forearm Flashcards
(76 cards)
what forearm muscles are in the ANTERIOR compartment of the forearm (superficial, intermediate, and deep layers)
SUPERFICIAL:
- pronator teres
- flexor carpi radialis
- palmaris longus
- flexor carpi ulnaris
INTERMEDIATE:
- flexor digitorum superficialis
DEEP:
- flexor digitorum profundus
- flexor pollicis longus
- pronator quadratus
ATTACHMENTS for pronator teres
medial epicondyle & ulnar coronoid process to lateral aspect of the radius
segmental innervation of pronator teres
C6-C7
INNERVATIONS of pronator teres
median nerve
ACTIONS of pronator teres
pronates & flexes forearm
ATTACHMENTS of flexor carpi radials
medial epicondyle to palmar aspect of the base of the 2nd metacarpal
segmental innervation of flexor carpi radialis
C6-C8
ACTIONS of the flexor carpi radialis
flexes & abducts hand at wrist (radial deviation) & may assist with pronation of forearm & flexion of the elbow
INNERVATIONS of the flexor carpi radialis
median nerve
ATTACHMENTS for palmaris longus
medial epicondyle to palmar aponeurosis
segmental innervation of palmaris longs
C7-C8
INNERVATIONS of palmaris longus
median nerve
ACTIONS of palmaris longus
flexes hand at wrist, tenses palmar fascia
ATTACHMENTS of flexor carpi ulnaris
from medial epicondyle & proximal ulnar shaft to pisiform
segmental innervation of flexor carpi ulnaris
C7-T1
INNERVATIONS of flexor carpi ulnaris
ulnar nerve
ACTIONS of flexor carpi ulnaris
flexes & adducts hand at wrist, ulnar deviation & assists in flex of the elbow
ATTACHMENTS of flexor digitorum superficialis
medial epicondyle to the sides of the middle phalanges of digits 2-5
segmental innervation of flexor digitorm superficialis
C7-T1
ACTIONS of flexor digitorum superficialis
flexes digits & hand at wrist
INNERVATION of flexor digitorum superficialis
median nerve
ATTACHMENTS of flexor digitorum profundus
anterior proximal 2/3rds of ulna & interosseous membrane to the base of the distal phalanges 2-5s
segmental innervation of flexor digitorum profundus
C7-T1
INNERVATIONS of flexor digitorum profundus
median (digits 2-3) & ulnar (digits 4-5)
