A

O: thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, spinous processes of the lumbar and last two thoracic vertebrae
I: various attachments at the posterior ribs, spinous and transverse processes fo thoracic and cervical vertebrae, mastoid process
Unilaterally: laterally flex vertebral columm to the same side
Bilaterally: extend the vertebral column

Fix the last rib during forced inahlation and ehalation
assist to extend the vertebral column

A

O: costal attachment: inner surface of lower six rbis
lumbar attachment: upper two or three lumbar vertebrae
stnernal attachment : inner part of xiphoid process
I: central tendon
F: draw down the central tendon of the diaphragm
increase the volume of the thoracic cavity during inhalation
