  • Muscular dystrophies are a group of muscle diseases caused by mutations in a person’s genes. causes muscle weakness
  • frequent falling
  • difficulty in rising from a lying or seated position.
  • muscle pain and stiffness
  • severe depression
  • anxiety
  • poor memory
  • cognitive deficits
  • absence or reduced expression of dystrophin cause the muscular dystrophies,
  • can be inherited by 1/ both parents passing on the faulty gene, and mother to son
  • children typically use wheelchairs at age 12
  • it affects boy more bc.. X chromosome
  • the reason for it is genetic and the only way to improve way of life for an individual with it is to provide treatments
  • steroid medication to repair and grow muscle
  • assistive devices, canes, wheel chairs, scooters
