my bike Flashcards
(25 cards)
Motion.
The action or process of moving or being moved
distance
the length of the space between two points.
odometer
an instrument for measuring the distance travelled by a wheeled vehicle
unit
an individual thing or person regarded as single and complete but which can also form an individual component of a larger or more complex whole.
time
the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.
speed
the rate at which someone or something moves or operates or is able to move or operate.
speedometer
an instrument on a vehicle’s dashboard indicating its speed.
formula
a mathematical relationship or rule expressed in symbols
slope
a surface of which one end or side is at a higher level than another; a rising or falling surface.
force
strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement
instantaneous speed
When the speed of an object is constantly changing, the instantaneous speed is the speed of an object at a particular moment (instant) in time
average speed
The average speed of an object is defined as the distance traveled divided by the time elapsed. Velocity is a vector quantity, and average velocity can be defined as the displacement divided by the time.
distance-time graph
In a distance-time graph; The average speed can be determined from the slope/gradient of the graph. The steeper the gradient the higher the average speed. A horizontal line indicates the object is stationary (not moving).
stationary
stationary
constant
occurring continuously over a period of time.
acceleration
a vehicle’s capacity to gain speed.
decelerating
Deceleration is a slowing down: the unexpected deceleration of your car might mean that you’ve run out of gas. Use the noun deceleration when you talk about a gradual decrease in speed
quantities
the amount or number of a material or abstract thing not usually estimated by spatial measurement.
variables
an element, feature, or factor that is liable to vary or change.
scientific
based on or characterized by the methods and principles of science.
formula
a mathematical relationship or rule expressed in symbols
using a scientific formula
A set of symbols showing the composition of a chemical compound. A formula lists the elements contained within it and indicates the number of atoms of each element with a subscript numeral if the number is more than 1.
force
strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement
mass
a large body of matter with no definite shape.
